2021 Toyota Hilux Revo (Fortuner pickup) debuts in Thailand

Toyota’s new Hilux Revo range comes in four formats: Rocco, Prerunner, Z Edition and Standard

Alongside the 2021MY Fortuner facelift, Toyota has unveiled the improved Hilux Revo pickup in Thailand. It was only recently that we shared a teaser image of the new Toyota Hilux Revo and Fortuner facelift. It was quite obvious that either product would hit the Thai market first.

For the 2021 model year, the new Toyota Hilux Revo comes in four diesel formats: Rocco, Prerunner, Z Edition and Standard. The first two lifestyle Hilux Revo variants are available in crew cab (four doors) and extended cab (two doors with extra rear cabin space for passengers or luggage) avatars.

On the other hand, the entry-level Standard variant comes as a regular cab focused on commercial use. It is also sold as a cab+chassis format for special designs such as ambulance, fire engine, van, tow truck, etc. The Z Edition appeals to customers looking for a balance between the above models.

Owing to multiple body possibilities, the price range is substantially wide. Prices for the personal-use 2021 Toyota Hilux Revo choices, Rocco, Prerunner and Z Edition start at roughly 1,080,000 baht (Rs 25.80 lakh), 959,000 baht (Rs 22.94 lakh) and 742,000 baht (Rs 17.75 lakh), respectively. Meanwhile, the Standard variant is available from as low as 587,000 (Rs 14.04 lakh). All prices mentioned here are ex-showroom (Thailand).

At the moment, the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross is the only lifestyle pickup truck available in India. For the same reason, it has created a niche in the market that could prove its potential if Toyota Kirloskar Motor brings down the higher variants of the 2021 Hilux Revo.

Powertrain options of the new Toyota Hilux Revo are the same as in its SUV sibling. This includes two four-cylinder diesel mills: 2.8-litre and 2.4-litre. The former unit makes 201bhp @ 3,400rpm and 500Nm @ 1,600-2,800rpm while the latter is good for 148bhp @ 3,400rpm and 400Nm @ 1,600-2,000rpm.

Depending on the variant, either engine is mated to a 6-speed TC automatic transmission or a traditional 6-speed manual. 4WD is offered as an option.
