Citroen C3 could be powered by a 1.2 liter turbo petrol engine with transmission options to include a five speed manual unit and automatic unit
Citroen already has the C5 Aircross on sale in India. Next, they plan to launch a small car, in the Rs 5-8 lakh segment. The India spec Citroen C3 was unveiled in France, back in Sep 2021. It is all set to be launched in India by March 2022.
Ahead of that, the small car has been spied undisguised for the first time in India. Automotive enthusiast John Christopher has spotted the new Citroen C3. The image was clicked near Chennai – Porur toll plaza and shared on Rushlane Spylane Facebook Group.
The 5 seater Citroen C3 has been developed in the country for emerging markets. It will be produced at the Thiruvallur plant in Chennai with more than 90 percent localization and is first of three models to be launched as a part of the company plan under Cirtoen C-Cubed Program.
Citroen C3 – Exterior Design
Citroen C3 will be based on a simpler version of the CMP modular platform. Exteriors will be seen with signature split headlamps, LED DRLs and wrap around LED tail lamps, ORVMs and a two slat chrome finished front grille along with a second hexagonal grille, dual tone bumpers and faux brushed aluminum skid plates.
It will also sport dual tone diamond cut alloy wheels and get a conventional antenna. Citroen C3 will receive an upright tailgate, blacked out pillars and roof rails. It will have a ground clearance of 180mm with boot space at 315 liters.
Citroen C3 will be offered in four single tone colours of Polar White, Platinum Grey, Steel Grey, and Zesty Orange. The dual tones include a roof with a Platinum Grey or Zesty Orange paintjob. Interiors of the new Citroen C3 will be marked by a spacious cabin with fabric finished seating. Its wheelbase measures 2,540 mm. Citroen claims that passengers at the rear of C3 receive one of the best legroom in the segment.
Features include a Citroen Connect Touchscreen with a 10 inch screen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity positioned in the center of the dashboard. The screen will be compatible to smartphone wirelessly and offer information via speech recognition activated through the steering wheel. 3 fast charging USB ports, a 12V socket and 1 liter glove box will also be a part of its interiors. Images also show off a three spoke steering wheel, digital instrument cluster, manual air conditioning controls and IRVMs.
Citroen C3 – Engine and Transmission
Though no exact engine specifications of the Citroen C3 have been revealed as on dated, it is expected to be powered by an 81 bhp, 1.2 liter naturally-aspirated petrol and 100 bhp, 1.2 liter turbocharged petrol unit. The engines could get mated to five speed manual or automatic transmission options. Citroen C3 is expected to become the first car with flex-fuel compatibility to go on sale in India. There will be no diesel engine on offer.
Ahead of official launch of the Citroen C3, the company is actively expanding its dealership network in the country. As on date, this is restricted to ‘La Maison’ flagship stores in limited number of cities along with the online sales platform. Citroen C3 will be seen as a direct rival to compact SUVs as well as hatchbacks in the Rs 5-10 lakh segment.
