Citroen has updated their C3 hatchback with much needed safety features – It also gets a new Shine top variant
Launched back in July 2022, C3 hatchback is currently the best-selling Citroen car in India. It is also their most affordable offering, which misses out on some basic features. Listening to customer feedback, Citroen has added new features to the C3.
Citroen C3 Shine Top Variant Launched
Citroen C3 gets a new top-spec trim called Shine. It sits above the Feel variant, and is priced from Rs 7.6 lakh, ex-sh. Citroen C3 Feel variant comes equipped with quite a few segment-first trendsetting features like a 10” touchscreen display with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. That said, certain quality-of-life features were sorely given a miss.
We’re talking about Electrically adjustable ORVM, Rear parking camera, Day/night IRVM, 15-inch Diamond Cut Alloys, Front Fog Lamps, Rear Skid Plates, Rear Wiper & Washer, Rear defogger. All these features are now added in the 2023 Citroen C3 Shine variant. It also gets MY CITROEN CONNECT app with 35 Smart connectivity features.
2023 Citroen C3 Update – New features added
Apart from adding new Shine variant, French automaker Citroen has also updated its C3 hatchback for MY2023. As part of the update, C3 now gets additional safety features. This is on top of dual airbags, ABS, EBD and rear parking sensors. These are TPMS, ESP and hill assist.
Earlier, C3 didn’t get a ton of safety features even in the top model. Citroen only offered two airbags, ABS, EBD, speed alert, child-seat anchor points and rear parking sensors. Now, Citroen is offering TPMS, ESP and HA features. Speaking about the new features, TPMS provides drivers with tyre pressure info in real time. This ensures optimum performance and even tyre wear prolongs mileage before replacement.
ESP (Electronic Stability Program) works alongside ABS and counteracts any slippage, understeer or oversteer, without driver inputs. This ensures a safer journey. Hill assist feature is a godsend when starting the vehicle on an inclined terrain. It holds on to the brakes after the driver has taken their foot off the pedal, giving headroom to go forward without rolling backward.
Saurabh Vatsa, Brand Head, Citroën India added, “We are excited to launch the new Shine variant of the Citroën C3 with the latest features that customers in this segment are aspiring for. With the new Citroën Connectivity 1.0 now on board the C3, this hatch with a twist will truly be perfect all-round package for the young and progressive customer in this competitive segment.”
Speaking about engine options, a sole 1.2L 3-cylinder petrol engine is offered in a naturally aspirated state or turbocharged state. The former develops 80 bhp and 115 Nm, mated to a 5-speed MT and the latter generates 109 bhp and 190 Nm, mated to a 6-speed manual.
