Powertrain details are not yet out – Hyundai Elantra N is likely to get its predecessor’s 2.0L turbo petrol motor
Shanghai Auto Show is a biennial event and witnesses some of the wildest automotive displays in the world. It commenced yesterday and goes on till 27th April. Hyundai Elantra N debuted in China at Shanghai Auto Show ahead of its global launch. Call it Avante N (South Korea) or i30 Sedan N (Australia) or Elantra N (Global), it is likely to stir a lot of buzz.
Updated 2024 Elantra was showcased last month. Now we see the Elantra N. North American debut is likely to happen by the end of 2023. When launched, it will take on Honda Civic Si, Volkswagen Jetta GLI and the likes. Pricing and powertrain figures are not yet out.
2024 Hyundai Elantra N – The Sportier Family Sedan
Elantra N was displayed in pictures and video besides the racing vehicle. At the front, we now have a brand-new fascia. It gets multiple cuts, creases and other design elements. Makes the fascia come off as cluttered and busy. Immediate rivals like Civic Si and Jetta GLI look much more cohesive.
Front bumper lip gets red highlights to amplify drama and sporty flair. These red elements neatly flow along its sporty side skirts and neatly integrate into the rear. There are subtle N badges in these red elements too. Side profile is mostly carried over except for a new set of 19” alloy wheels with N badging instead of Hyundai’s.
This wheel design along with its five cavities reminds me of Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio. At the rear, ‘H’ shaped connecting LED tail lights from regular Elantra is carried over. Hyundai Elantra N gets a fixed black spoiler. Half of the rear bumper is finished in black. Red elements, a faux diffuser and two fat exhaust tips add a lot of sportiness.
2024 Elantra N interior pictures are not yet out. On the inside, we expect red elements used liberally around AC vents, dashboard and door trims. Red contrasting stitching and piping for seat upholstery are likely too. 2024 Elantra’s general twin-display layout is kept similar to the N model. Along with all its strengths.
Specs & Powertrain Details
Performance figures are not yet out. That said, Hyundai is highly likely to offer a sole 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine. This engine is capable of generating 286 bhp of power and 392 Nm of torque. Hyundai Elantra N is FWD only. It gets an electronic limited-slip differential. A 6-speed manual or an 8-speed DCT is likely.
Thanks to these specs, the new 2024 Elantra can do a 0-100 km/h sprint in just 5.3 seconds. In the video, we can hear enhanced engine sound. The exhaust note was snarly and loud. Elantra N’s dual exhaust setup is likely to be of a free-flowing type. Apart from exhaust, suspension and red-painted brakes are likely to be Elantra N specific, to offer better performance. Additional chassis braces for added rigidity are possible too. Top speed is likely to hover around the 250 km/h mark. India launch is highly unlikely.
