First launched in 2019, 2nd gen Kia Seltos is expected to debut in the 2nd half of 2025
The next-generation Kia Seltos, codenamed SP3 Proto, has been spied testing in India, marking the first sighting of the highly anticipated SUV on domestic roads. The upcoming model is expected to debut in the Indian market in the second half of 2025, following its global unveiling. The Seltos, which has been a segment leader since its 2019 launch, aims to elevate its standing with updated features, hybrid powertrains, and refreshed aesthetics.
Design Updates: Bold and Futuristic
Latest spy shots of new Kia Seltos 2025 model are credited to Power Stroke PS. Earlier spied in South Korea, spy shots reveal that while the boxy and rugged profile of the Seltos remains intact, substantial updates are expected in the design. The front and rear bumpers, grille, and lighting elements are set to receive a modern touch, aligning the design with Kia’s latest EV lineup.
The tail lamps, which bear a striking resemblance to the Kia EV5, hint at a seamless integration of ICE and EV design philosophies. The side profile is enhanced by new alloy wheel designs, while the fascia is likely to feature a decluttered, elegant appearance. These updates aim to make the Seltos more approachable and sophisticated while retaining its robust SUV appeal.
Interior Revamp: Inspired by Kia’s EV Lineup
Inside, the next-gen Seltos is expected to feature a completely refreshed cabin. Spy shots suggest similarities with the Kia EV3, including dual-tone seats, orange accents, and a revamped design for door trims and headrests. Ambient lighting is expected to enhance the cabin’s visual appeal.
While the dashboard and cockpit were camouflaged, reports hint at a multi-layered dashboard, potentially incorporating LED ambient lighting and premium materials. A new two-spoke steering wheel could replace the current three-spoke design, offering a more refined and modern feel.
Powertrain: Hybrid Options and e-AWD Likely
In addition to the range of petrol and diesel engines on offer with existing Seltos, new gen Seltos is also expected to get a hybrid powertrain. Borrowing from Hyundai Kona Hybrid, the Seltos could feature a 1.6-litre hybrid engine producing 141 hp. Additionally, e-AWD could be offered in international markets, catering to European preferences. While India-specific powertrain options remain unconfirmed, the hybrid setup could give the Seltos an edge in fuel efficiency and performance, aligning with market demand for greener vehicles.
With 6+ lakh Seltos units already on Indian roads, Kia has consistently redefined the C-SUV segment with its design, features, and technology. The next-gen Seltos is expected to continue this legacy, offering diverse powertrain options to cater to different customer needs, including petrol, diesel, and hybrid variants.
The addition of the Seltos EV in the coming years further solidifies Kia’s commitment to innovation, making the brand bigger and better. As competition intensifies with models like Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, and Toyota HyRyder, Kia’s focus on future-ready technology and evolving customer preferences will ensure the Seltos remains a formidable player in its segment.
