Compared to the crossover-like feel of the first-gen Bayon, the second-gen model has adopted a more SUV-like profile

Hyundai will be launching multiple new products and facelifts in India in 2026. The ones already spotted on road tests include a new sub-4-meter electric SUV and Exter facelift. Hyundai will also be introducing the 2nd-gen Bayon in India. Latest spy shots reveal the updated model undergoing winter testing in snowy conditions. Let’s check out the details.

2nd-gen Hyundai Bayon – Design and features

New Hyundai Bayon’s overall profile aligns more closely with the boxy silhouette typical of conventional SUVs. One can notice significant changes such as a more upright front fascia and a flatter roofline. Lighting setup is entirely new, featuring top-mounted LED DRLs and rectangular headlamps. While the camouflage hides finer details, it appears that the front grille has a slatted design.

Side profile has squared wheel arches, thick body cladding, new alloy wheels, dual-tone ORVMs with integrated turn signals, conventional door handles, roof rails and a shark fin antenna. At the rear, one can spot a raked windshield and a prominent bumper. Taillights follow the same basic format as seen with the lighting setup at the front.

2nd Gen Hyundai Bayon is internally codenamed BC4i CUV. With the exterior design updates, there are likely to be some changes to the dimensions. The current-gen model sold globally is 4,180 mm long, 1,775 mm wide, 1,500 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,580 mm. For India, the Bayon is expected to be introduced as a sub-4-meter crossover SUV.

Interiors, Powertrains

Inside, the new Bayon is expected to get a comprehensive range of premium features. In earlier spy shots, the interiors of Bayon N Line were revealed. Updates are expected across the dashboard, infotainment system and instrument cluster. Common features across the standard model and the N Line version could include a sunroof, automatic climate control, circular door handles, rear AC vents, auto dimming IRVM and a comprehensive range of ADAS features.

Coming to powertrain options, Hyundai Bayon in India could offer a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine. In some markets, the current Bayon is also available with a 1.0-litre turbo petrol mild hybrid and a 1.4-litre petrol engine option.

Market positioning, price

In the sub-4-meter segment, Hyundai already offers the Venue and Exter. Together, these two models command a market share of around 13% in this space. The 2026 Bayon will be positioned between the Exter and Venue. One of the key rivals will be Maruti Fronx, which is among the top selling SUVs in the sub 4m segment. In December 2025, Fronx had a market share of 17.03%. Bayon will also face competition from other popular sub-compact SUVs.

Considering the intense competition in this segment, the Bayon is expected to be offered at an accessible price point. It could be positioned as a more affordable option in comparison to Hyundai Venue. Prices for Venue start at Rs 7.99 lakh. Bayon’s primary rival, Maruti Fronx, is available in the price range of Rs 6.85 lakh to Rs 11.98 lakh. Hyundai Bayon is expected to be launched in India sometime around the festive season.
