JSW MG Motor India appears to be gearing up for a significant update to its popular Hector SUV. While earlier spy shots had already confirmed a mild exterior refresh, new information now suggests that the upcoming MG Hector facelift will receive a major overhaul on the inside — particularly its infotainment and connected tech package.
Next-Gen Infotainment System With Up to 10GB RAM
According to sources, the new MG Hector will introduce a more advanced, high-performance infotainment system aimed at delivering a smoother, more intuitive user experience. The system may come equipped with up to 10GB RAM, making it one of the most powerful in-car units in the segment.
This significant bump in processing capability promises faster responses, better multitasking, and a noticeably more seamless interface. Additionally, MG is expected to introduce multi-touch gesture controls for functions such as fan speed and music playback — features that bring a more smartphone-like, interactive feel to cabin operations. These upgrades align with MG’s continued focus on connected mobility and user-friendly digital experiences, reinforcing Hector’s positioning as one of India’s most tech-forward SUVs.

Spy Shots Indicate Subtle Exterior Changes
Recently, the 2026 MG Hector facelift was spotted testing near the company’s Vadodara plant. The test mule wore partial camouflage, revealing that the update will focus mainly on refreshed front and rear bumpers and a redesigned grille.
Sheet metal panels and lighting elements — including the signature LED DRLs and headlamp assembly — appear unchanged from the current model. A new set of alloy wheels is also expected, possibly in a 19-inch size to match what rivals now offer in the segment.
Interior Updates Expected Beyond Infotainment
The current Hector already features a large 14-inch portrait touchscreen, but the facelift is expected to take things further. Alongside the upgraded infotainment hardware, MG may introduce:
• Ventilated seats for both front and rear rows
• Improved touch response
• Expanded ADAS suite
• Improved connected-car features
Powertrain and Competition
The facelifted Hector is likely to continue with the familiar 1.5L turbo petrol and 2.0L diesel engines. With the segment heating up rapidly, the refreshed Hector will once again take on rivals such as:
• Tata Harrier & Safari
• Mahindra XUV700
Push Needed After Slow Sales Performance
Over the past year, MG Hector sales have declined sharply, dropping from 21,474 units to 8,414 units, with October 2025 recording just 225 units, its lowest in 12 months. The facelift, combined with a modernized tech suite, is expected to help the model regain traction in a competitive segment.
With a next-generation infotainment system, subtle visual upgrades, and a possible boost in features, the 2026 MG Hector facelift is shaping up to be an important step in MG’s ICE SUV strategy. As testing continues and details emerge, it is becoming clear that MG aims to elevate Hector’s in-car experience significantly — bringing it closer to the brand’s EV-level tech sophistication.
