Renault made its first big impact in the Indian market with the launch of Duster SUV. An offering so successful, Duster became the face of Renault in India and nothing else from them had a similar impact in the market. In 2026, Renault is finally bringing Duster back to the Indian market with renewed ethos and is stepping up the game in the 4.2m to 4.4m SUV segment.
Speaking of this segment, 2026 Renault Duster is the 14th contender. It is a fact that Renault Duster is late to this party, but has a major brand recall among Indian SUV buyers. Pre-bookings for the 2026 Renault Duster start now, on 26th January, 2026. Introductory launch price and priority delivery will only be for pre-booked customers. Deliveries of non hybrid variants will start in March 2026, while Hybrids will hit the roads around Diwali.
2026 Renault Duster
From debuting in February 2024 under the Dacia brand to launching in India under Renault brand, Duster has had a long journey. When compared to the Renault Duster launched in select EU nations, India-spec Duster has slight design variances, while maintaining its core values and ethos that SUV buyers across the world have come to love.
India-spec Duster is still butch, muscular and has a dominating presence. It continues with a boxy silhouette which unlocks a lot of volume on the inside. We get a clamshell style flat bonnet with muscular creases for visual drama and a healthy dose of un-painted body cladding to show its rugged nature.
Eyebrow-shaped LED DRLs, conventional LED reflector headlights, fog lights, bull-bar style front faux silver skid plate, large lower grille, DUSTER lettering on upper grille, polygonal wheel-arch cladding, vertical cladding on front door, roof rails, large alloy wheels, rear door handle on pillars, wide rear haunches, sporty spoiler, connected LED tail lights and other elements are notable. Powertrains, Transmissions
Where powertrains are concerned, 2026 Renault Duster comes with Petrol engines only, unlike Dusters of the past with a Diesel. There is no 4X4 variants at launch too, which might be in the cards for Duster and its alliance cousin, Nissan Tekton. 2026 Renault Duster is based on the new CMF-B platform with 90% India-specific elements.
Lower variants will get the 1.0L Turbo Petrol engine option which will ensure optimum fuel efficiency in the segment. It is called Turbo TCe 100, which packs up to 100 PS of peak power. Higher variants will get a more powerful Turbo Petrol engine.
Renault claims the highest performance in segment with 2026 Duster, which reflects the vast horizon of target demographic. Called Turbo TCe 160, performance metrics include 163 PS of peak power and 280 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 6-speed DCT gearbox.
Renault also revealed a strong Hybrid powertrain in the form of E-Tech 160 which consists of a 1.4 kWh battery pack. Renault promises 80% of city drive can be achieved in pure EV mode. It is based on a 1.8L engine, mated to an 8-speed DHT with 2 electric motors. Renault Duster will come with 7 year warranty too, which is among the highest in this segment.
