The three-wheeler segment showed off strong demand driven by passenger carriers and added impetus across urban areas
Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) has revealed vehicle retail data for calendar year 2025 and Dec 2025. The results show strong performance across all segments with total retails at 2,81,61,228 units, relating to a 7.71% YoY growth. In an earlier post we covered two wheeler and car retails, both of which ended on a positive note. Here we detail 3W sales which have also seen improvements both on YoY and through CY2025 period.
3W Sales Breakup – Jan-Dec 2025
In calendar year 2025 (CY25), 3W sales went up to 13,09,953 units, a growth of 7.21% over 12,21,886 units sold in the same period of 2024. This related to a volume increase of 88,067 units. Commanding a 35.92% market share, Bajaj Auto added 4,50,544 units to total retail sales in this segment, a growth over 4,38,931 units of CY24.
Mahindra at No. 2 accounted for 3W sales of 1,04,007 units, up from 76,448 units under the corresponding period. Piaggio suffered a setback with retail sales lower at 86,502 units, down from 93,717 units sold in CY 2024. TVS Motor sales went up to 47,316 units, well over 23,378 units of CY 2024 taking market share to 3.61% from 1.91%.
Retail sales across the electric segment saw some decline. YC Electric sales dipped to 41,228 units from 43,976 units. Atul Auto at 30,490 units has witnessed significant growth over 27,079 units though Saera Electric sales dipped to 24,803 units from 28,292 units. Dilli Electric sales also fell to 21,915 units from 25,042 units. Lower down the sales list, Zeniak Innovations saw retail sales escalate to 13,398 units in CY25, whereas the company had sold only 6,544 units during the 12 months of 2024. Mini Metro also reported lower sales at 13,062 units while other 3W OEMs that also included electric manufacturers added 4,76,688 units to total sales.
3W Sales Breakup – Dec 2025
3W sales ended Dec 2025 with 1,27,772 unit sales. This was a 36.10% YoY increase from 93,879 units sold in Dec 2024. MoM sales however, ended lower by 4.61% as Nov 2025 retail sales figures had stood at 1,33,951 units. In Dec 2025, Bajaj Auto topped the sales list with 35,208 units sold and a 27.56% market share. Retail sales of the company had stood at 28,995 units in Dec 2024. Bajaj Auto was the only 3W OEM to account for sales above the 10,000 unit mark.
At No. 2, Mahindra 3W retail sales went up to 8,681 units from 6,152 units while Piaggio sales grew to 7,534 units in Dec 2025 from 6,469 units of the same month last year. The company however, noted a dip in market share to 5.90% from 6.89%. Retail sales improved dramatically YoY for TVS Motor with 5,085 units sold from 1,909 unit sales.
West Bengal based Zeniak Innovations India Limited, engaged in the manufacturing of Battery Operated Rickshaws accounted for sales of 4,070 units in the past month. This was a hefty growth over 1,013 unit sales of Dec 2024. Electric 3W sales also improved strongly. YC Electric suffered a YoY de-growth to 2,958 units from 3,800 units while Hooghly Motors, also producing both battery operated E-Rickshaws and E-Carts has seen sales rise to 2,742 units from 461 units on a YoY basis. Atul Auto sales went up to 2,673 units from 2,232 units while Dilli Electric added 2,169 units to total 3W retail sales in Dec 2025.
Aahana Commercial sales stood at 2,058 units from 393 units relating to strong YoY growth. Saera sales however, declined to 1,882 units from 2,102 units. Fede Industries added 1,808 units to total sales along with Jajodia Commodities with 1,715 units sold. Terra Motors (1,620 units) and Vani Electric (1,348 units) have both seen outstanding sales growth in Dec 2025. Other 3W makers added 46,221 units to total retail sales, a growth over 36,691 units sold in Dec 2024.
