new honda city dieselAfter ET revealed that the new Honda City will be revealed this month officially, Team-BHP have reported that the unveiling date is scheduled for 25th Nov. Based on the new 2014 Jazz hatchback, the new City will feature state of the art interiors and a redesigned exterior look, which is expected to give the car an aggressive stance. The render above is credit to abesselingSVF’s.

Just like the new Jazz, the new City sedan is also expected to include similar features, like capacitive touch screen, rotating front seat, InterNavi system, state of the art music system, Hill Start Assist, City brake active system, Vehicle Stability Control system, HELPNET (this one is similar to Ford EcoSport Emergency Assistance- on Airbag deployment, the car call’s emergency services for help using connected phone), new design language, new chassis, and much more.

Engine options will include existing 1.5l petrol i-VTEC and 1.5l diesel i-DTEC. The introduction of a diesel heart in the City sedan will bring a big boost to it’s sales in the Indian auto industry. A few years back, Honda City was leading sales chart in it’s segment, but due to increase in petrol price, buyers started preferring diesel options like Hyundai Verna and Volkswagen Vento. But this is soon going to change.

The new City will get the same 1.5l diesel heart, which currently features in the Amaze, India’s most fuel economical car with 25.8 kmpl. Not only this engine is the most economical in India, it is also the most powerful in it’s segment with 100 PS power and 200 Nm torque output figures.

Since the launch of Amaze, Honda Cars India have reported a growth in sales. Their plant is currently being utilized at full capacity. They will soon increase numbers, thanks to production commencing at third shift this month. With City diesel, the demand is expected to increase even further, the increase in demand will soon be met by Honda India’s second plant in Rajasthan, which is set to start production from early 2014.
