The car will be pitted against the Porsche 911 GT3 RS.

The new Range-topping Mercedes AMG GT R flagship sportscar is all set to make its world premiere at the 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed which is scheduled to take place between June 23 and 26. The more powerful version of the AMT GT is reported to have 570 PS on tap and it will be a road-legal track-focused machine.

Autocar UK reports that, apart from a uprated engine, the most aggressive derivative of the GT (yet) features heavily updated underpinnings that are developed as a part of homologation package for the GT3 race car. So we can expect the road-going version to be pitted against the highly acclaimed Porsche 911 GT3 RS.

The design inspiration will come from the GT3 race car shown at Geneva Motor Show. The new grille with vertical slats could also be carried forward.

The publication also reports that, according to its dealer sources, Mercedes is planning to limit the production of GT R to position it as a highly exclusive model and to justify a price tag that will higher than the GT S’ 110,500 pounds (around INR 1.08 crore).

We can expect more aggressive aerodynamic bodywork, stripped out interiors, new exhaust system, reworked diffuser and similar measures that will result in enhanced performance. Carbon fibre would be used in construction of elements like bonnet, boot, wings, etc., to reduce weight.
