Bajaj Auto unveiled their new motorcycle – The V earlier this February. At the launch, their MD claimed that the new Bajaj V was their proudest creation yet. Why? Because it has a piece of history embedded in it.
Each unit of INS Vikrant comes with a piece of metal from India’s first aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant. Also the hero of Indo-Pak war 1971, INS Vikrant was later decommissioned and was ordered to be scrapped. Bajaj managed to procure 3 tonnes of scrap metal at a price of INR 1.8 lakh. This precious piece of history is now embedded in each unit of Bajaj V.
Inspired by the story behind Bajaj V, Bollywood actor Aamir Khan decided to buy one for himself. When Rajiv Bajaj (who is also a friend of Aamir) got to know about this, he decided to do something special.
Not only Rajiv gave Aamir the first Bajaj V off the production line, but also customized it to Aamir Khan’s initials. “A” embossed on the fuel tank and signature “Chote Lal” graphic design inscribed on the rear seat cowl.
Speaking about his new bike, Aamir says, “The V is a special bike and I wouldn’t compare it with anything else. It has a piece of history ingrained into it. For me, it’s a proud moment to own a piece of metal from INS Vikrant which was the military pride of India for decades.”
Rajiv Bajaj handed over the Bajaj V to Aamir Khan at his residence in Mumbai.
