Aditya Patel 6th at Paul Ricard circuit at 2012 JK Racing Asia Series: The early Volkswagen Polo Cup boost

JK Racing Asia Series at Paul Ricard circuit saw some amazing action as Indian driver Aditya Patel, came up strongly from the 9th place to register a sixth position finish. Fighting it out with other drivers was never easy and it was an intense competition between drivers right from the start till the finish.

In this round (round six) of the JKRAS, Aditya Patel started ninth for US Formula Project in the pack and slowly made his way to the sixth position. His journey wasn’t very easy but his determination paid off and by the first lap he was up to the seventh place and the second lap saw him come in at sixth. Luck too played an important role in this podium finish for the US formula project driver, as punctured tires and slip-ups by others in front pushed them to the back of the grid. This allowed Patel to capitalize on pace and maintain his position till the end of this race.

Notable drivers GP’s Afiq I. Yazid, Nabil Jeffri and Aston Hare put up amazing performances even though they were fraught with minor problems during the duration of the race. Yazid made it to the finish line ahead of Jeffri and Hare, two of the best Eurointernational drivers. Rounds 7 and 8 of the JKRAS will be held at the belgium Spa Francorchamps Circuit on July 27th -29th, 2012.

Aditya Patel’s tryst with motorsport started with the 2001 JK Tyre National Racing Championship at the impressionable age of 14. Sponsorships from MAS Holdings, JK Tyre, and Petra Energy ensured a growing motorsports career graph as he went on to debut internationally in 2009 with Volkswagen Polo Cup in Germany. 2010 saw the Indian Motorsports racer graduate to the VW Scirocco R Cup in Germany. At the Scirocco R-Cup 2011 he finished 5th. In December 2011, he became the first Indian racer to test the Audi R8 LMS for 2012 ADAC GT Masters in Oschersleben.

While he was selected for the Indian Racing League i1 Super Series to be held early in 2012, this signing up didn’t prove quite as lucky with the debut racing league being postponed. With Volkswagen Motorsports being active in spotting and nurturing young racers, more young driver’s are making their way to international racetracks. Sponsors like Audi India, JK Tyre, and others are working strategically to define Aditya’s racing career as he becomes familiar with international racing platforms behind the wheels of Audi performance vehicles including the Audi TT and Audi R8 sports car. In May 2012, Aditya Patel’s team Pro Handicap e. V finished at the top of their class at the 24 Hours of Nurburgring.
