Formula One driver, Adrian Sutil has called former World Champion Lewis Hamilton a coward. Sutil was convicted for injuring Eric Lux, Chief Executive, Lotus F1 (Renault F1, at the time of incident last April in Shanghai). Earlier this week, Sutil was sentenced to 18 month suspended jail term and was also ordered to pay $265,000 towards charity by a Munich Court Judge named Christiane Thiemann.
Reportedly, Adrian Sutil broke a champagne glass on Eric’s head and then later injured his neck due to which Eric started bleeding and needed 24 stitches on his neck. Lewis Hamilton was present when this entire episode took place on a Sunday night in Shanghai, after the Chinese Grand Prix last April.
Lewis was to supposed to testify at the same Munich Court where Sutil was convicted. But on that day, Lewis Hamilton’s lawyer stated that, his client will not be available as he has a prior engagement with his employer, McLaren.
Later that day, speaking to Bild, a German newspaper, Sutil said, “Lewis is a coward. I do not want to be friends with someone like that. He is for me no man. Even his father sent me a text message and wished me luck for the process. Lewis came with nothing. He has changed his phone number. I could not reach him anymore.”
Earlier yesterday, at the McLaren MP4-27 (their F1 car for 2012 season) launch, reporters asked Lewis to comment on what Sutil had to say about him, to which McLaren spokesperson intervened and said, “We’ve been told Lewis shouldn’t really go there because it might go under appeal, so can we move on to the next question,” to Hamilton said: “I’ll listen to him (spokesperson).”
