Air Force officer killed by speeding Audi Q7, driver still not in jail (Video update)

Audi Q7 kills IAF officer

Corporal Abhimanyu Gaud (21) from Surat, was killed in an accident while rehearsing for Republic Day parade.

The accident occurred at 6.30 am on Wednesday morning at Red Road when a brand new white coloured Audi Q7 broke through the two layer security cordon and mowed down Corporal Abhimanyu Gaud. The corporal was rushed to the Eastern Command Hospital in Alipore where he was declared dead on arrival.

What is surprising that in spite of 100 policemen on duty in the vicinity at that time of the morning, the driver of the Audi Q7 not only managed to break-into a no vehicle zone and kill an IAF officer, but also managed to get out of there scot-free.

Sheer incompetence of Kolkata Police who watched as mute spectators. The newspaper quoted police saying they couldn’t react as events happened all of a sudden. The place from where the driver fled is an open area near Maidan where anyone is visible to all. What to say, Kolkata Police require ‘higher up netas’ permission to even shoot at tyres, god knows what they will do if terrorists attack Kolkata.
