Airbus helicopter designed by Peugeot

Designed at Peugeot Design Lab, the H160 Helicopter is on display at the Dubai Air Show being held from 8-12 November 2015.

Airbus Helicopters and Peugeot Design Lab unveil the new H160 helicopter in Dubai. This new civil helicopter H160 was a winning entry in the style competition and sets a new benchmark where helicopter styling is concerned. Set to go on sale from 2016, the H160 is a medium twin helicopter with a novel design and versatile capabilities.

Designed for a wide range of tasks that include service to offshore platforms, public service missions, medical evacuations and costal surveillance, the H160 can also be used for various private and business aviation facilities.

Airbus Helicopters presents the H160 with an outstanding and futuristic design as compared to the previous generation Dauphin. H160 receives tapered windows and sleek lines. Its airframe is made from composite material while performance is enhanced through a biplane stabilizer, canted tail rotor and Blue Edge blades.

With capacity for upto 12 persons and crew of two, the H160 weighs a total of 5,500-6,000 kgs. It is powered by two Turbomeca Arrano turboshaft engines and has cruising speed of 296 kmph while maximum range is at 833 km.

It was in 2012 that Peugeot Design Lab was specially formed to work on projects other than the company’s main car business. The idea of a helicopter range came into effect for use as an emergency vehicle and off shore taxi. The new H160 will go into production early 2016 following which sales will commence.
