Earlier this week, Maruti Suzuki officially unveiled the upcoming Baleno premium hatchback in India at the national media drive event in Jaipur. Apart from revealing new Baleno to the media, Maruti Suzuki also unveiled other details pertaining to their new car. Except for its price, all other details of Baleno are now officially revealed.
Based on a completely new platform, Maruti Baleno is powered by the same two engines, which powers the Swift. The difference is, its new platform. This has made the car lighter as well as stronger than Swift. The lighter platform has also improved driving dynamics and given the new Baleno a best in class power to weight ratio (petrol variant).
Powering the petrol Baleno is a 1.2 liter four cylinder engine generating 84.3 PS power and 115 Nm of torque. This engine claims to deliver 21.4 kmpl fuel efficiency via a 5 speed manual transmission. There is also a CVT gearbox on offer with this variant, which claims to deliver 19 kmpl.
Diesel Baleno is powered by 1.3 liter four cylinder generating 75 PS and 190 Nm torque. This one claims to deliver a best in class fuel efficiency of 27.39 kmpl via five speed manual transmission. No automatic transmission is on offer with diesel Baleno.
