What’s usually a run of the mill launch event turned out to be more a Goan escapade for the all new Mini Convertible. A fitting free spirited backdrop for a car that offers the same virtues. The all new Mini Convertible is available at an ex-showroom price of INR 34.90 lakhs.
The Mini Convertible comes with a fully automatic, electrically powered soft top with integrated rollover protection. During open-top driving, the wind deflector behind front seats can be locked into position to keep unwanted air turbulence at bay.
Opening/closing the soft top takes 18 seconds. An optional Mini Yours soft top version features the Union Jack graphic. Mini Excitement package offers LED interior, and ambient lighting. The Mini logo is projected on the driver side ground once the door’s opened.
On the inside, the sporty go-kart feel theme is abundant with a multi-function sport leather steering wheel, and sports front seats offered as standard.
Backseat comfort is improved with larger seat surfaces and increased headroom. The choice of colours and high-end leather variations makes for exciting interiors. Luggage capacity of 215 litres is 25 percent more than the outgoing model ensuring packing for long drives is never a hassle.
Power comes from a 4-cylinder TwinPower turbo tech engine mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission to return max power at 141 kw/192 hp and max torque of 280 Nm. Top speed is pegged at 233 km/hr, and the all new Mini Convertible goes from 0-100 in 7.1 seconds.
Alongside improved efficiency, and enhanced shift comfort, acoustic and vibration response is bettered. Paddle shifters help operate the optional 6-speed sports automatic transmission.
All new Mini Convertible drive modes are tuned to optimize ride comfort, efficiency and sportiness. Apart from standard MID mode, Sport mode improves active driving dynamics, and Green mode optimizes fuel efficiency.
Standard safety features include airbags for all, brake assist, 3-point seat belts, dynamic stability control, anti-lock braking system, crash sensor, run flat indicator, and cornering brake control. Other standard features include auto start/stop, shift point display, brake energy recuperation, and electromechanical power steering.
Ride quality and suspension is optimized further with optional dynamic Damper Control over rough and uneven roads. Head-up display, LED headlights with cornering function and Harman Kardon system is offered as optional.
Optional Wired package features a 8.8″ screen with Touch Controller and Bluetooth mobile connectivity, and Navigation System Professional. Mini Connected can be accessed through optional Radio Mini Visual Boost.
