Super Trofeo 2013 Season II sees super sports car manufacturers Automobili Lamborghini and luxury Swiss watchmaker Blancpain battle it out across new tracks and with new teams for the second season. The Super Trofeo finale held last year had two teams from China, amateur and Pro-Am.
This year around there is a new driver lineup while there is also Amer Beg, the first Indian driver for the Lamborghini Super Trofeo series who will make his national debut in the championship. His Twitter update on 21st reads, ‘Amer Beg ?@AmerBeg 21 May, Here’s the BIG news : I will be driving in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia series this year ! The Worlds Fastest One-Make series !’.
The first Super Trofeo got off to a flying start in 2009 in Europe. This is for the fifth year that the motorsport events are being held and for the second year in Asia. Back in Shanghai, the second season of Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Asia coincides with the 50th anniversary celebrations of Lamborghini adding more excitement to this extreme racing series. Korea will play host to teh series for the first time ever.
Speaking on behalf of Blancpain, Vice President Alain Delamuraz stated: “We are proud to be back here in Shanghai for the opening round of the second season of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Asia. In 2013, our partnership is growing with the launch of the Super Trofeo in the US and our presence at the Lamborghini 50th Anniversary celebrations.” Speaking on behalf of Lamborghini, president and CEO Stephan Winkelmann added: “The second Super Trofeo series in Asia comes alongside the 50th Anniversary of Lamborghini, celebrating 100 years of innovation in half the time, bringing further measures of Italian passion and excitement to this extreme racing series.”
