2020 Triumph Street Triple RS India launch price Rs 11.13 lakh

2020 Triumph Street Triple RS gets a torque increase of 2Nm and better mid-range power

Amidst the ongoing COVID-19 lockdown, Triumph Motorcycles India has taken the launch of 2020MY Triumph Street Triple RS, online. The British motorcycle manufacturer has priced the middleweight streetfighter at Rs 11.13 lakh ex-showroom. Online bookings have also commenced and deliveries will start post lockdown.

Triumph’s new Street Triple RS has become sharper even though it carries forward the core design principle of its predecessor. The signature bug-eyed twin headlamps still remain a highlight but have been redesigned a bit. Some of the bodywork has also undergone significant design upgrades. This includes the radiator shroud area, belly pan and tail section panels. The motorcycle continues to be a benchmark in terms of premium material usage and this is something that has remained a constant for Triumph Motorcycles.

Even though Street Triple RS already had a pulsating high-performance motor, the engine development team at Triumph Motorcycles has made it even better. The updated 765cc liquid-cooled 12-valve DOHC inline-triple engine complies with Euro 5 regulations. While power output remains the same at 123hp, torque has increased from 77 to 79 Nm. In the mid-range, power characteristics have been enhanced by 9 per cent. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox that comes integrated with a bidirectional quickshifter.

Another key component that was updated is the large TFT instrument console. It comes with new layouts based on the chosen riding mode. Furthermore, new colour options have been added to suit individual preferences. The screen displays a lot more information compared to its previous format. Users can now pair their phones to the system via Bluetooth. This has to be done via an accessory module that needs to be purchased separately. Once connected, users can access turn-by-turn navigation via My Triumph App. They can also connect and operate a GoPro.

In line with its track-ready profile, the updated Street Triple RS is equipped with fully-adjustable Showa fork, Öhlins STX40 rear monoshock and Brembo M50 Monobloc callipers. The wheels are shod with Supercorsa SP V3 tyres from Pirelli. The electronic rider aids are pretty good but could have done even better with a dedicated IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit).

Interestingly, 2020MY Street Triple RS is priced at the exact rate as its previous version. Globally, the track-bred naked sports motorcycle takes on new KTM 890 Duke R aka Super Scalpel, which is expected to come to India in the near future.
