Kia Seltos Aug 2020 Sales At 10,655 Units – Highest in 6 Months

Kia Motors has sold 97,745 units of Seltos and 3,614 units of Carnival to date

Kia Motors currently sells the Seltos and Carnival in India. They will soon add the new Sonet SUV to its portfolio. In August 2020, the company has noted sales of 10,845 units. This is a 28 percent increase in sales month on month, up from 8,502 units sold in July 2020.

Year on year, it was a massive 74 percent increase in sales- when compared to sales of 6,236 units sold in August 2019. At that time it was only the Seltos which was on sale with the Carnival only being launched earlier this year. Aug 2020 sales of Kia India, are the company’s highest monthly sales since Feb 2020.

Increase in sales could be on account of the orders not completed during the lockdown period along with increased demand in view of a shift to personal mobility, with buyers shunning public means of transport to curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus. The upcoming festive season could also have contributed to added sales.

Kia India Sales Aug 2020

Kia Motors also noted an increase in market share. The company had commanded a 3.2 percent market share in August 2019 which increased to 4.6 percent in the past month.

Kia sells 1+ lakh cars in India

Kia Motors has sold a total of 1 lakh cars in India. This milestone has been achieved in 11 months ever since the Seltos was launched in August 2019. The company had reached cumulative sales of 75,000 in March 2020, 7 months after the Seltos was launched and the balance 25,000 unit sales were completed in the months that followed. This was despite the coronavirus pandemic putting the country into lockdown mode immediately thereafter and sales being at zero units in April 2020.

Of the total sales of 1 lakh units, Kia Seltos has amassed sales of 97,745 units. It is among one of the best selling UVs in the country. The Seltos received its first update in June 2020 with new features and added connected car technologies added to its UVO Connect system.

Kia Sonet launch in India

Kia Motors now gears up for the launch of the Sonet, a sub 4 meter SUV in India later this month. Pre-bookings have opened at Rs.25,000. The Kia Sonet will be positioned on the same platform as the Hyundai Venue and will be presented in two variants of Tech Line and GT Line. To be competitively priced, likely to even undercut the Hyundai Venue, the Sonet will enter a segment currently commanded by the likes of the Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, Mahindra XUV300 and Maruti Vitara Brezza.

Recently, Kia Motors also showed off the 2021 Kia Stinger which will go on sale in South Korean markets from later this year. It will also launch in other international markets but launch in India is not likely anytime soon.
