XUV300 is the fifth sub 4 meter SUV from Mahindra, following launch of the Quanto, KUV100, TUV300 and the NuvoSport. Priced from Rs 7.9 lakhs for the base petrol and Rs 8.5 lakhs for the base diesel, as of now the Mahindra XUV300 is only offered manual transmission option.
But that will be changing soon. Mahindra will launch XUV300 with AMT option next month. Just like the manual transmission variant, the AMT option is also expected to be on offer with a choice of four trims – W4, W6, W8 and W8(O). Here are the first undisguised spy shots of the new XUV300 AMT W6 trim.
AMT gearbox on board the XUV300 is expected to be sourced from Magnetti-Marelli. The same company which also supplies AMT units to Maruti cars. As per sources, launch of AMT variant is a temporary solution. Mahindra plans to offer a conventional automatic gearbox with XUV300 from 2020.
Engine options will remain same. The 1.2 liter turbocharged petrol engine offers 110 PS power at 5,000 rpm and 200 Nm torque at 2,000-3,500 rpm while the diesel engine belts out 115 PS power at 3,750 rpm and 300 Nm torque at 1,500-2,500 rpm. In terms of fuel efficiency, the petrol engine claims 17 kmpl while diesel engine claims 20 kmpl. Mileage figures of AMT will remain similar to manual variants.
Mahindra XUV300 AMT borrows design and styling cues from the bigger and also cheetah inspired XUV500. Its exteriors are dominated by an expansive front grille, large headlamps connected to fog lamps and boomerang shaped LED DRLS. Top variant also gets a sunroof, roof rails and 17” diamond cut alloys. In terms of dimensions the new XUV300 stands 3,995mm in length, 1,821mm in width, 1,617mm in height and gets a 2,700mm long wheelbase. Ground clearance is at 180mm while boot space is at 265 liters.
Interiors of the Mahindra XUV300 AMT spells comfort with several first in class features. It gets silver accents on its dashboard and central console, piano black accents on door arm rests and black and beige colored seating. The 7” touchscreen infotainment system supports smartphone connectivity options of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Dual zone climate control is a first in segment feature which ensures cooling as per passenger’s preferences. This feature enables the driver and co driver to opt for individual cooling temperatures making it especially convenient when one side of the vehicle faces the sun while the other faces the shade.
Once launched, Mahindra XUV300 AMT will take on AMT variants of Maruti Brezza and Tata Nexon. It will be priced about Rs 20-30k higher than respective manual variants of XUV300.
