Tata 45X launch by Oct 2019 in India – Teased again ahead of Geneva debut

Having displayed 45X concept at 2018 Auto Expo, Tata Motors will now display their showstopper at the world level at the upcoming 2019 Geneva Motor Show. This time around, on display will be a Tata 45X hatchback in production guise.

Tata 45X will be company’s answer to the likes of Hyundai i20 and Maruti Baleno. These two cars together register monthly sales in the region of 25k to 30k units. Tata aims to eat into the share of these two cars, as the target audience is same.

Latest teaser from Tata motors on 45X gives an idea about who the 45X is made for. It encapsulates a young and cosmopolitan feel that points to resetting the rules. Poised to be fun, tech savvy, and future ready, reinventing the urban car design is a focus area.

This should come together with its futuristic design and advanced tech. With manufacturers no longer focusing only on performance, class leading connectivity is an expected part of the package deal. Tata Motors is aiming for a futuristic and youthful appeal. In the latest teaser video of 45X, Tata Motors explains the ethos that helped them built the 45X. Watch the video below.

Tata Motors has continuously stressed on premium in reference to the 45X concept. In their words, 45X in production guise is a premium urban car redefined. This could in fact serve Tata Motors in good stead as the company has little to show in premium offering in the segments it operates in.

Focus on premium would help bring in a new buyer group into the Tata Motors’ fold, and operate across a larger market segment. While Tata Motors finds itself involved deeply in the unfolding of Brexit, in the domestic market the company has been advancing on a firm foot.

The year started with the launch of Tata Harrier, a 5 seater SUV. The company will soon launch a Harrier AMT variant. There’s also the Harrier based 7 seat SUV that will be introduced. This apart, in recent weeks, 45X premium hatch has been spied testing regularly. Having drawn parallels from the concept, the vehicle will of course be toned down in terms of design for practicality of production.

Tata 45X launch will take place by October 1st week, around the Durga Puja festive period. It will be offered with petrol and diesel engine options, similar to the one’s on offer with Nexon. Transmission options on offer will include manual as well as automatic. Price range of 45X is expected from Rs 5.5 lakhs to Rs 8 lakhs.
