To arrive at this ranking, ‘WorldofCEOs.com’ used respected social media analytics firm, Klout’s metric-based measure – the ‘Klout Score’ – which is calculated after looking at followers and engagement across multiple social networks including Twitter, LinkedIn and CEO blogs. Mr. Mahindra’s Klout score was 81 out of 100, up from 76 earlier.
His Twitter handle (@anandmahindra) which has over 838,000 followers, was recognized for being a ‘lively account with lots of regional and emerging markets flavour.’ The Klout score was then combined with qualitative factors like which CEOs create true value-added content as determined by users, to develop the final list. The value added by CEOs was measured in terms of originality and positive impact on the corporate world, their industry, and application to their own company. WorldofCEOs.com favoured those CEOs who had actively and consistently contributed to the leadership agenda and to social media over time.
This is the second global ranking received by Mr. Mahindra on social media during 2013. In May, his Twitter account was ranked 4th in the ‘Top 25 CEOs to Follow on Twitter’ listing done by the ‘CEO Guru’ blog. His Twitter account recognised for being ‘lively with lots of regional flavour’
9th on the list @ElonMusk has his Twitter account described as, ‘An increasingly influential CEO who’s getting lots of credit for his green vision for motoring at Tesla.Covers how to push the boundaries and commercialise high science; the future of motoring and space travel.’ Both head honchos have a Klout Score of above 80. Elon Musk has till date posted 739 tweets whereas Anand Mahindra has tweeted 5427 times. Others in the top 5 list include Richard Branson, Chairman of Virgin Group, Jeff Weiner, CEO of LinkedIn, Eric Schmidt, Executive Chairman of Google, and Marissa Mayer, CEO of Yahoo.
