After setting up 4 outlets across the country in India, Piaggio Vehicles Pvt Ltd is preparing to expand its premium product portfolio. Kicking off the proceedings will be Aprilia whose Indian lineup has witnessed the addition of Shiver 900 and Dorsoduro 900. Both these bikes have been officially launched in India. Bookings open from today.
Shiver 900 naked streetfighter will target Ducati Monster while Dorsoduro 900 will take on Ducati Hypermotard. The former is priced at INR 11.99 lakhs, making it the most affordable Aprilia motorcycle in India while the latter is launched at INR 12.50 lakhs (both prices are ex-showroom, Pune). The bikes will be imported as CBUs.

The Italian sportsbike duo received an updated engine with an additional displacement of 150 cc late last year (previous verisons featured a 750 cc engine). In addition to the new motor, Shiver also sports significant cosmetic enhancements such as restyled fuel tank side panels, tailpiece, front mudguard, etc. At 95.2 hp, the new 900 cc 90-degree V-Twin motor is just as powerful as the older 750 cc mill but it produces more torque (90 Nm) at lower rpm. It also meets Euro 4 emission norms.
Aprilia Shiver 900 is equipped with standard ABS, single stage traction control, and ride-by-wire technology with multiple riding modes. The Shiver has an ultra-modern instrument cluster which comprises of a TFT technology display with a large 4.3” screen. Smartphones can also be connected through the AMP kit and all data related to the calls and audio files can be accessed.
Like the Shiver, the Aprilia Dorsoduro is also equipped with the ride by wire electronic accelerator system, which enables riders to change the engine mapping, thereby creating a change in the amount of power utilized. The Sport setting provides an immediate and aggressive throttle; the Touring is ideal for touring and daily use, providing a smoother response. The Rain map is ideal for difficult weather conditions and slippery road surfaces.
