The sporty Aprilia SR 150 premium automatic scooter which was showcased at the recently concluded 2016 Auto Expo is set to be launched in August this year, reports Zigwheels.com. According to the publication’s sources, the scooter will have an attractive price range in the vicinity of INR 80,000 to INR 1 lakhs (ex-showroom).
The sleek urban scooter has a compact front apron with twin headlamps and steering cowl-mounted indicators. The engine and transmission case stand exposed and the generous seat sports dual-tone black-red finish. Dual instrument dials, a vertical taillight and split grab rails are the other design highlights.
The SR 150 is powered by a 154.4 cc single-cycle air-cooled engine which is tuned to deliver 11.55 PS at 7,000 rpm and 11.5 Nm at 5,500 rpm. The carbureted motor is paired with a CVT.
The scooter is suspended by means of front telescopic fork and single-sided coil spring at the rear (with single sided swing arm). The Italian two wheeler is equipped with alloy wheels that are wrapped in 120/70-14 tyres. Braking is courtesy of 220 mm front disc and 240 mm rear drum brakes.
The Aprilia SR 150 automatic scooter is reported to be assembled at Piaggio India’s plant at Baramati in Maharashtra where Vespas are being made. The progress of the SR 150 would be very closely monitored by the entire Indian two wheeler industry since it will foray into a hitherto unexplored territory. The scooter would face competition from Mahindra’s Peugeot models in the future.
