With about five million scooters sold in 2015, the Indian scooter market is one of the most competitive globally. To be a part of this growing segment, Piaggio India launched their premium Aprilia SR 150 scooter in India back in August 2016. With a starting price of just INR 65,000, this scooter was soon a hit among enthusiasts.
Aprilia SR 150 scooter is marketed as a cross, that combines a sports bike feel with a scooter’s readiness. Designed and engineered in Italy, the scooter will be manufactured at Piaggio India plant in Baramati, Maharashtra.
Now, barely a few months later, Mr Stefano Pelle, Managing Director, Piaggio India has confirmed that they will launch yet another Aprilia SR scooter in India. Though he did not divulge much details, all he said that this will be a more peppier version of the SR 150.
We are not sure what he meant when he said that the new SR will be more peppier. From what we could guess, it seems like the new SR 125, which was spied a few weeks back at a Aprilia dealership in Bangalore. Or does he mean that a new SR 150 edition is on its way? Well, whatever be the case, we are getting a new Aprilia scooter soon.
Stefano Pelle elaborates that the company’s launches thus far have been received favourably. Aprilia SR 150 launch has helped the company increase footprint in the two wheeler market to a great extent.
Aprilia SR 150 is fitted with 14 “wheels with five spokes, similar to Aprilia racing bikes that run on Moto GP championship circuits. The target customers are the dynamic urban youth who are upwardly mobile.
