One of the leading commercial vehicle manufacturer in the country, Ashok Leyland announced the launch of new range of electric buses today. Called Circuit, the first electric bus under this new range was launched today in Chennai, at the company’s manufacturing plant.
This new 100% electric bus comes with a capacity to seat 31 passengers and can attain a top speed of 75 kmph. Powered by lithium-ion batteries, which are smartly placed under the floor of the bus, it has a driving range of 120 km on a single charge.
Ashok Leyland has not revealed the specs of the batteries, and hence we do not know what is the power output of this bus’s batteries. What they did reveal is that the bus will be loaded with tech. Every passenger will get a USB port to charge their device. They bus will also offer on-the-go WiFi to the passengers, advanced telematics system for users to track the bus in real time, on-board fire detection suppression system
The first made in India full electric bus, Ashok Leyland will spawn the Circuit range across multiple platforms in the future, thereby promoting environment friendly options to consumers in India.
