Ashok Leyland gets BS6 certification from ARAI – Aug 2019 sales

On August 29, 2019 the company received BSVI emission standard compliance certificates from Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), an autonomous body affiliated to the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises that offers vehicle certification and homologation services.

Ashok Leyland showcased a Euro-VI truck at Auto Expo 2016, Delhi, and are the first to be BSVI ready across its heavy duty truck range. With the BSVI range, the automaker continues to deliver on reliability and ease of operations.

A new modular vehicle platform has been built for this range. The company looks forward to meet customer requirements ranging from multiple options of Loading Spans, Cabins, Suspensions, and, Drivetrains. Various choices and combinations will be on offer through a custom built product configurator. LCV and ICV range compliance will be completed shortly. The brand will offer a comprehensive range from 70 hp to 360 hp in BSVI application.

Ashok Leyland domestic sales volume has halved across segments. M&HCV sales decline stands at 63 percent, down to 4,585 units, down from 12,420 units. LCV sales decline is reported at 12 percent, down to 3,711 units, down from 4,208 units sold in August 2018. Total domestic sales decline is reported at 50 percent, down to 8,296 units from 16,628 units sold in August 2018.

Domestic plus exports performance is similarly dismal. Total M&HCV sales decline stands at 59 percent at 5,349 units, down from 13,158 units sold in August 2018. Total LCV sales is down 47 percent at 9,231 units, down from 17,386 units sold a year earlier.
