Sharing a common first name, James Bevan, the British high commissioner to India hosted a James Bond themed party at his residence at Rajaji Marg in the Capital on Saturday night. Held in honor of the franchise completing 50 years, the party saw life sized posters of Bond movies along with a Martini Bar and Aston Martin DB9 in attendance.
Guests were seen around a Blackjack table at the party while guests included the who’s who, diplomats and Nancy Powell, US Ambassador who came in dressed as James Bond’s boss Lady M while other guests all came in dressed in Bond attire. The high commissioner gave a speech that was made up of all the 23 titles of Bond movies. According to Bevan, he rates Sean Connery as the best Bond of all times while Skyfall was rated as the best movie.
Besides all the fun and entertainment of the evening, the event also marked 30 years of Chevening scholarships awarded by UK Foreign and Commonwealth office which offers young people with leadership qualities the opportunity to pursue postgraduate courses at universities in the UK.
