Why is this Aston Martin worth INR 4 cr wearing Delhi Police logo?

A brand new Aston Martin Rapide, which costs INR 4.1 crore has been spotted wrapped in Delhi Police livery, monogram and vinyl along with the Dial 100 message. Photos of this red, blue and white colored Aston Martin Rapide has gone viral on the internet, stirring up some excitement among automobile aficionados. Some even hoping that Delhi Police is going the Dubai Police way.

Readers have been sending images, and asking us, has Delhi Police purchased this? If yes, where are they planning to drive this car? And who will they catch in such a fast car? More importantly, does anyone in Delhi Police knows how to handle such a car?

Well, Delhi Police has not purchased this car. Neither this car belongs to them. Then how come it has their livery? Is it not illegal? Yes, it is illegal to place a Delhi Police Logo on your car, but this case is an exception. Here’s how.

This car is done up for its role in an upcoming movie called ‘Drive’, produced by Karan Johar and starring Sushant Singh Rajput and Jacqueline Fernandes. The movie was announced earlier this year in March with Johar posing in front of a Lamborghini Murcielago.

Set to be released later this year, the Aston Martin Rapide will be seen in some high speed action in a Hindi movie. The car is powered by a 5.9 liter V12 petrol engine which delivers 470 bhp and 600 Nm. It has a 0-100 kmph acceleration time of less than 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 330 kmph.

Though the original color of Aston Martin Rapide was black, the 4 door saloon received a white wrap to change its base color while red and blue stripes were put on. It was also the ‘Dial 100’ decal that made the car look strikingly similar to the vehicles used by Delhi Police for patrolling. The wrap job has been carried out by folks at Big Boyz Toyz.
