UK-based Evo magazine got an exclusive opportunity to see the Aston Martin AM-RB-001 hypercar’s clay model ahead of the concept’s world premiere. In the video, Jethro Bovingdon, reveals some very interesting details about the car.
According to him, the race-spec hypercar which is being jointly developed by Aston Martin and Red Bull racing will be faster than a current Formula one car!
For any car to be faster than the F1 machine, it has to feature cutting edge aerodynamic elements and an exceptional powertrain. The journalist goes on to imply that the race-spec Aston Martin AM-RB-001 can lap the Spa 40 seconds quicker the Koenigsegg One:1 which currently holds the lap record for a road-legal car!
The One:1 has a power-to-weight ratio of 1,000 PS per tonne and the same formula would be adopted by the road-legal version of the Aston Martin hypercar. The race-spec version, however, would have even higher ratio.
Neither Aston Martin nor Red Bull Racing has talked much about their upcoming hypercar’s technical details but the duo has promised unprecedented levels of downforce. The car is expected to be powered by a mid-mounted naturally aspirated V12 engine which is estimated to produce around 1,000 PS.
The Aston Martin AM-RB-001 would be ready for the market in 2018. Only very few units will be made.
