Aston Martin ready for 24 Hours of Le Mans

Aston Martin has been synonymous with 24 Hours of Le Mans for the past many years. This year as well when the events commence in France this weekend, Aston Martin will be in attendance but judging from the past performance during the last year, will be entering with a rather modest car in this year’s motor racing events.

Last year Aston martin launched a new racing car – AMR-One which was expected to take the company to instantaneous success. However, the vehicle failed to make any sort of impact and in fact had to bow out of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in less than 24 minutes. The AMR-One was not only slow but unreliable as well which led to its downfall.

Aston Martin will be entering a modest car this year and has revealed the car which is expected to be seen at the events. It is an Aston martin Vantage GTE which was showcased at a reception held in its favor at Royal Garden Hotel, London. The car was presented by David Richards, Chairman of the company who though aware of last year’s fiasco is quite confident of their performance meeting Aston Martin high standards during the current year along with main sponsors Gulf Oil.

Mr Richards says, “You know, that’s the appeal of sport, of motorsport. If we were winners all the time, people would get bored of us, they’d also see us in the wrong light. We’re a relatively small company compared with the people we’re fighting against, and sometimes that goes against you. But I guarantee you when we’re back at Le Mans this year, the following and support from all of the crowds, from all the supporters, of all nationalities, will be undiminished for Aston Martin.”
