Aiming to expand its presence pan-India, Ather Energy has teased its new electric scooter named Ather 450X. While the regular Ather 450 is available only in Bengaluru and Chennai, the new e-scooter 450X will be offered in 10 major cities. Ather’s new electric scooter is based on the existing 450 model, but specific details are yet to be revealed.
From a business perspective, it was imperative for Ather to launch its products across the country. Growth is bound to get stifled if operations are limited to select geographies. In the recent past, we have seen multiple electric scooter manufacturers launch pan-India operations. Perhaps, Ather sensed the increasing competition in this space as well as the opportunities that exist. This may be among the reasons that prompted the company to unveil the new Ather 450X.
Even though details about Ather 450X have not been revealed, the company claims that its new e-scooter is far superior to regular scooters. Based on what we know, Ather 450X will be better in terms of design, intelligence and performance. Ather has probably taken inputs from scooter users and designed a product that perfectly suits their needs.
The first 6 cities where the 450X will be launched are Bangalore, Chennai, Pune, Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad. The next 4 cities to get Ather 450X are Ahmedabad, Kochi, Coimbatore and Kolkata. Speaking about the new scooter, Ather said, “The response to the priority access to the Ather 450X has been phenomenal! People from across the country have been booking the vehicle and sharing their invites with friends. Some of the cities though, are definitely a step ahead. In the coming weeks we will be shortlisting dealers and partners in these cities.”
New Ather 450X will be unveiled in a few weeks and more details will be revealed at that time. Customers have been provided the option to pre-order their 450X, but this is available only through an invite. People who choose to pre-order will be getting exclusive benefits such as branded T-shirt and additional invite codes. The company has also assured that customers who pre-order will be getting their 450X delivered on priority. The delivery timeline will be announced at the time of official unveil.
Regular Ather 450 gets its power from a 2.4 kWh IP67 water & dust resistant lithium-ion battery connected to a BLDC motor. The motor generates max power of 7 PS and max torque of 20.5 Nm. Ather 450 offers top speed of 80 kmph and it can reach 0 to 40 in 3.9 seconds.
Users can choose ride modes of Eco, Ride and Sport, which offer range of 75 km, 65 km and 55 km, respectively. The scooter is equipped with fast charging that loads up around one kilometre every minute. Ather’s new offering, 450X, is expected to improve upon all these parameters.
Just like Ather 450, the new scooter is also expected to offer subscription packs. Customers opting for top-spec subscription packs can have complete peace of mind, as all expenses and maintenance are covered. Customers with limited budget can choose other plans as per their requirement.
