Bengaluru-based start-up, Ather Energy, headed by two IITians Tarun Mehta and Swapnil Jain had revealed their new S340 electric scooter earlier this year. At that time, tech specs of the scooter were not fully revealed. Now the company has detailed all specs of their upcoming electric scooter.
The fully electric scooter has been designed from the ground up over a period of three years and is finally readied for launch. Ather S340 electric scooter will not be sold through any dealerships but directly through online sales thus making it the country’s first two-wheeler to be sold exclusively through online portals.
Ather S340 will have a driving range of 60 kms. Recharge upto 90 percent could be accomplished in an hour while the lithium ion battery pack will offer lifecycle of 50,000 kms or lifespan of 5-6 years. It can do a 0-60 kmph spring in 12.11s. Max torque output stands at 14 Nm.
Ather S340 is seen in a sporty design with a lightweight hybrid aluminum chassis and swing-arm. It gets intuitive LED lights and a dashboard touchscreen that can be integrated to S340 Mobile App. 200 mm disk brakes in front and rear, LED headlight and tail lamp besides a large floor board are the highlights of the S340 which will also offer comfortable riding position for both rider and pillion rider. Riders will be able to sign in via the dashboard and the scooter will recognize the rider while offering a personalized riding experience.

The company has set up its production unit in Bengaluru’s Whitefield area and production is set to commence shortly. Bookings will open in Bengaluru, Mumbai and Pune even as price is yet to be announced.
