Auto A3 1.4l TFSI sedan is powered by a 1.4 liter turbocharged engine offering 122 hp and 200 Nm torque mated to a 7 speed dual clutch Stronic transmission. Acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph is accomplished in 9.3 seconds while top speed is pegged at 205 kmph.
A 1.8 liter tubocharged engine is also to power the A3 sedan. This engine is capable of 180 PS and 280 Nm torque from 1350 to 4,500 rpm. The engine allows the A3 to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 6.7 seconds when mated to a 6 speed dual clutch Stronic transmission while top speed is pegged at 228 kmph. This variant is going to be on offer in India.
Exterior features of the Audi A3 sedan include 17” wheels, adaptive xenon headlamps and LED daytime running lights. Options include 18” wheels, a panoramic roof, Alcantara sports seats and black headliner which is available for RM19,800 while an exterior paint in Pearl effect will cost the buyer an additional RM3,000.
Audi A3 sedan boasts of interiors sporting dual zone automatic climate controls, auto lights and wiper and auto start/stop function. Safety features include cruise control, electronic parking brake and 7 airbags besides ESP and ISOFIX mounts on passenger seats. The 1.4 liter TFSI receives leather/ fabric upholstery while the 1.8 TFSI gets exclusive leather upholstery with sports seats, powered front passenger seats and a 3 spoke steering wheel with a host of chrome accents in its interiors.
Slated to make its Indian debut on August 7, 2014, the A3 sedan could come in at a price ranging from INR 25 to INR 33 lakhs (thanks to local assembly). Bookings are open at company showrooms at a down payment of INR 3.5 lakhs. A 2.0l TDI variant generating 143 hp will also be on offer alongside the 180 hp variant.
