Showcased earlier this year at Auto Expo 2014 in February, the German automakers have ensured that they have equipped Audi A3 with all the bells and whistles to appeal to buyers in India. For a premium, entry-level compact luxury car segment offering, A3 has a roomier cabin with ample leg, head and shoulder room both in front and at the rear. Front seats can be adjusted electronically, to occupants comfort while steering wheel can be manually adjusted for both optimum tilt and reach.
The cabin boasts of leather wrapped four spoke steering wheel, two pod instrument console and 7 inch MMI display. The dashboard is well crafted with jet turbine inspired air vents as are also seen on the Audi TT sports with rotating aluminium inserts to control air flow.
Audi A3, the most affordable luxury sedan in India will come in with one petrol and one diesel engine option. These will include a 1.8 liter TFSI offering 180 PS and a 2.0 liter TDI offering 143 PS. Mileage for the petrol variant is claimed at 16.60 kmpl while that of diesel variant is claimed at 20.38 kmpl.
The new A3 India spec car will bear Audi’s revised nomenclature. Audi will be badging cars according to power and not as per engine. Hence the 2.0 TDI will sport a 35 TDI badge while the 1.8 liter TFSI will sport a 40 TFSI badge.
We will be posting the drive review of Audi A3 sedan soon. Until then, have a look at the image gallery below, which was shot at the media drive event in Udaipur yesterday.
