Audi Elaine Concept with level 4 autonomous driving features

The 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show sees the Audi Elaine Concept showcased. Audi Elaine Concept started off as the E-Tron Sportback concept that was showcased at Shanghai Auto Show earlier this year. This concept now goes a step further with more advanced level 4 autonomous talents for Frankfurt Motor Show.

Auto Elaine Concept gets Matrix LED lights at the front and rear and shares the same body line, electric drive as seen on the E-Tron. It sits on 23” wheels with a 6 spoke design and exteriors measure 4.90 mtrs in length, 1.98 mtrs in width and 1.53 mtrs in height. It sits on a wheelbase measuring 2.93 mtrs.

Interiors are well designed and simplistic. Expansive touchscreens dominate its display unit and on central console to interact with on-board system. The lighting technology seen on the Elaine Concept is digitally controlled Matrix LED units at the front and rear. Minuscule Digital Matrix projectors show off the road ahead and other road users are informed of driving modes and as to when the vehicle is switching to autonomous driving.

Safety features include more advanced Traffic Jam Pilot allowing the vehicle to change lanes autonomously. A faster internet connection, ability to locate free parking spots on the side of the road and to navigate handover zone is also seen on the Elaine along with the car’s personal intelligent assistant which responds to voice inputs, gets to know driver’s behavior, adapts the car’s functions to driver’s requirements and selects most preferred music, sat-nav and climate controls, etc.

Audi Fit Driver is a wearable device worn on the driver’s wrist that detects vital signs, such as body temperature and heart rate. It also detects fatigue and will then signal breathing exercises, seat massage and relaxing must along with climate functions.

Audi Elaine Concept is powered by 3 electric motors combining for a total of 370 kW and a range of 500 km. Acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph is possible in 4.5 seconds.
