Audi car sales in India grew by an impressive 42% YOY for the month of August 2012. Audi India sold 726 luxury cars last month compared to 510 units sold in Aug 2011 (250 cars for Aug 2010). Audi India’s YTD car sales too registered a growth of 48% as they stood at 5,406 units this year, compared to 3,655 units for the same period last year (1,876 cars for Aug 2010). Audi India is well on its way to surpass last year’s overall sales figure this month. In 2011, Audi sold 5,511 cars in India.

Audi India finished 2011 as the third largest luxury car maker, but this year, it has not only progressed to the second spot (by replacing Mercedes Benz India), but is also competing for the top spot with BMW (who has held this position since 2009). BMW and Mercedes Benz are yet to reveal their sales figures for August 2012. In August 2011, BMW sold 816 cars while Mercedes Benz sold 614 cars.

Audi registers impressive 48 percent growth YTD in India; Steers to surpass 2011 annual sales figure

• Records YTD sale of 5406 units
• Impressive sale of 726 units in August 2012
• Expanding footprint to 25 dealerships across India

Mumbai: Audi, the German luxury car manufacturer, is on its way to surpass the 2011 annual sales figure (Jan-Dec 2011: 5511 units) with an impressive sale of 5406 units in the first 8 months (Jan-Aug 2012). Powering ahead with its positive outlook for 2012, the brand with the four rings recorded a 48 percent growth rate YTD (Jan-Aug 2011: 3655 units). The luxury carmaker registered a total sale of 726 units in August 2012, a growth rate of 42 percent over the same period last year (August 2011: 510 units).

Audi India continues to be the market leader in the luxury SUV segment in India with Audi Q5 and Audi Q7. The launch of Audi Q3 has further consolidated its dominance in the luxury SUV segment in India. The brand with the four rings continues to be the segment leader also in the sports car segment with Audi R8, Audi RS5 and the new Audi TT Coupè.

Audi is focused to strengthen its national footprint across India. The company recently opened new showrooms in Navi Mumbai, Coimbatore, Delhi West, Nagpur and Bhopal. Last year, the luxury carmaker opened new showrooms in Delhi South, Chennai, Ludhiana, Surat and Indore. Further developments include Lucknow and Goa among others.

The Audi model range in India includes the new Audi A4, Audi A6, Audi A7 Sportback, Audi A8L, Audi Q3, Audi Q5, Audi Q7, Audi S4, Audi RS5 Coupé, Audi TT Coupé, the super sports car Audi R8 and the Audi R8 Spyder available across the country: in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Coimbatore, Delhi South, Delhi West, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Ludhiana, Mumbai West, Nagpur, Navi Mumbai, Pune and Surat.
