This slump in sales that the Indian auto industry is facing following PM Modi’s demonetization drive could affect sales for the next three to four months as consumers have put plans of purchasing a vehicle on hold.
The compulsory disclosure of Permanent Account Number is required for purchase of vehicles which has affected sales as buyers largely prefer cash transactions when it entails purchase of SUV, luxury cars or superbikes. No impact is however seen on sales of small cars.
In view of these reduced sales in the luxury segment, Audi India has announced special discounts on its models on sale in the country. The list prices of the Audi A3, A4, A6, Q3 and Q7 have been reduced by around INR 2 to INR 7 lakhs depending on variant offering incentives to buyers in India.
Audi A3 which had an earlier price tag of INR 35.30 lakhs is now being offered at INR 30.99 lakhs while Audi A4 has seen prices come down from INR 44.83 lakhs to INR 37.83 lakhs. It is also the Audi A6 which is being offered at a reduced price of INR 53.58 lakhs as against an earlier price tag of INR 57.58 lakhs while the Audi Q3 is priced at INR 33.87 lakhs as against a price tag of INR 38.37 lakhs prior to the announcement of demonetization.
Range topping Audi Q7 which had an earlier price tag of INR 77.98 lakhs is now offered at a reduced price of INR 75.98 lakhs in a bid to attract more buyers. Audi India is also presenting various finance schemes, 6 month EMI holiday and zero down payment benefits to its buyers in the country.
