Car lovers were charmed by Jaipur Vintage Car Show which was held over the past weekend. 100 vintage cars were on display and the show itself was organized by Rajputana Automotive Sports Club of Jaipur. The club was started in 1996 and started off with 14 cars participating in this rally.
Today this number has increased to 104 vehicles all from Jaipur alone while another 20 vintage vehicles came in from Delhi to participate in the events. These vintage vehicles were taken through the streets of Jaipur offering views a unique opportunity to capture their beauty. These vehicles were all maintained in pristine condition though owners and participants complained about non availability of spare parts that contributes to constraints in its preservation.
The exhibition of these vehicles followed with a rally held on Sunday and was highlighted by the participation by a number of superstars from the past. Ravi Shastri’s 1985 Audi 100 was showcased. The rally was organized by Rajasthan Tourism & Rajputana Automotive Sports Car Club, Jaipur along with Audi India. Some spectacular cars from the movies of yesteryears also enthralled audience. These vehicles featured in movies such as Gandhi, Queenie, Zubeida, Bhool Bhulaiya, Veer and Sher.
“I am delighted to continue our partnership with the Rajputana Automotive Sports Car Club in Jaipur – the capital of royalty and luxury. Rajasthan, the land of Maharajas has been setting the standards for luxury in India for centuries. It is a matter of great joy to see cars after cars that have chalked down automobile history, and each car has a brilliant and glorious story to tell of its own. We at Audi love to celebrate the history and what better than the iconic Audi 100 of cricket legend- Ravi Shastri to be displayed- a car we had restored with Audi Jaipur over the last year,” said Michael Perschke, Head, Audi India.
