Audi’s fastest car, the R8 V10 Plus has now been launched at the Buddh International Circuit. It may be noted that this super fast vehicle is to be powered by a 5.2 liter V10 engine which has already proved its capacity in the R8 Spyder and R8 V10 Coupe. In the Plus, the engine will be capable of 550 bhp and 540 Nm torque and will be mated to a 7 speed S Tronic gearbox. Acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph will be achieved in 3.5 seconds while the vehicle zooms to a top speed of 317 kmph which is why Audi states is their fastest vehicle in their current lineup. Getting behind the wheel of one will set you back by Rs 20,595,000 ex-showroom, New Delhi.
At the morning’s event, Karun Chandhok set a lap time of 2:12.711 in the new Audi R8 V10 plus, which is now registered as the fastest lap time by a production car, in popular words, road legal car at the Buddh International Circuit (BIC). Earlier in the year, Gautam Singhania, Chairman and Managing director of Raymond limited set a time of 1 minute 59 seconds at the 5.1 km track during India’s first Ferrari 458 challenge at BIC. While this is the most expensive of the R8 range in India, the new 2013 Audi R8 was launched here back in January 2013. This includes the R8 V8 coupe, R8 V10 coupe and R8 V10 Spyder.
An upgraded and sporty R8 has also been introduced in South African markets where it is presented in five variants all of which are mated to a new 7 speed S Tronic transmission. Externally, the styling updates include a new set of LED headlights and glossy black paint on its single frame grille, besides LED indicators in tail lights which swipe the direction of turning as against a persistent flash.
All five variants have varying power and torque figures, while all of the R8s sit on 19” rims with varying spoke patterns. The standard kit includes Bluetooth, full LED headlights and tail lights along with parking sensors in front and rear. Entertainment and music comes in the form of Audi Music Interface and Bang & Olufsen sound system in the V10 variant.
