The exclusive Audi RS 6 Avant (estate) is based on the new Audi A6. First launched in 2014, along-side the A6 sedan, it is surprising that India will get the RS 6 Avant and not the sedan.
Audi RS 6 Avant is powered by a 4.0 TFSI V8 engine offering 560 bhp power and 700 Nm torque. This engine is mated to a 8 speed tiptronic transmission which sends power to all four wheels via Audi’s Quattro AWD system. Acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph is achieved in 3.9 seconds while top speed is pegged at 305 kmph.
Audi RS 6 Avant gets adaptive air suspension, 20″alloys as standard, 21″optional, matrix LEDs, and cylinder on demand. Sporting Dynamic Ride Control, Audi RS 6 Avant receives interiors done up in black leather with silver and red accents. Audi will be bringing in RS 6 estate as a CBU (completely Built Unit). It will be positioned above the S6 in company line-up, with price range in the INR 1-1.25 crore range.
This is not the first time Audi is introducing India to a completely new segment. They launched the A3 cabriolet last year. As per Audi, the A3 cabrio has been doing better than what they had expected.
Considering that Audi India is launching RS 6 Avant, there certainly is demand for such a car. And, with no direct competition, it will be interesting to see how the RS 6 Avant fares in the Indian auto industry.
