2016 Audi S4 and S4 Avant revealed at Frankfurt, engine specs detailed

Audi has revealed two performance S versions – the A4 sedan and A4 Avant wagon at Frankfurt Motor Show.

Slated for launch sometime in 2016, Audi S4 and S4 Avant are high-end A4 variants. The Audi S4 sedan weighs 1630kg, while the S4 Avant weighs 1675kg, a massive improvement over its outgoing counterparts. Besides receiving sporty exteriors and interiors, the two Audi S4 variants also get a host of onboard technology and long list of safety features.

Audi S4 and S4 Avant are powered by new engines. In the place of the 3.0 liter supercharged V6, there is a 3.0 liter turbocharged V6 producing 354 hp peak power and 368 lb/ft torque available from 1,300 to 4,500 rpm, exceeding the previous engine by 21 hp and 43 lb/ft. The new engine is mated to an 8 speed automatic transmission allowing the Audi S4 models to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 249 kmph.

The even faster-sprinting Audi S4 – The wholesale redevelopment of the Audi A4 range includes a new V6 TFSI engine delivering 354PS and sub-five-second acceleration which is reserved for the all-new S4 and S4 Avant.

While exteriors boast of S specific rear bumper, S diffuser clip and four tail pipes, interiors also sport a new design and S sport seats upholstered in Nappa leather and Alcantara. Door sill trims are illuminated with S4 logos while special S4 screen and MMI operating system are also part of the interiors.

Audi S4 and S4 Avant also receive options of virtual cockpit and Audi connect hardware module capable of increased internet speed via LTE standard. Active lane assist, adaptive cruise control, stop/go, park assist and cross traffic assist along with collision avoidance assist and turn assist for a part of the on board safety features.
