The 15+ year old TT label still sticks in enthusiasts’ hearts, as its flamboyant sculpture and fun filled rev machine is hard to resist. This time, Audi has put together styling trims from Sport Quattro concept showcased at 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show and the TT ended up looking less charming than it is known for. New edgy front grille, redesigned bumper and totally new & narrow head & tail lamp assemblies differentiate new TT from older generation ones.
Interior features new admirable digital instrument cluster, new sports seats weighing 5 kg lighter and 12.3in ‘Audi Virtual Cockpit’ screen that is customisable and shows fab 3D effects. Rest of bells and whistles inside new Audi TT will carry on from the existing features list.
Under the parabolic hood, will be sitting a four cylinder 2.0 litre TFSI motor that pushes out 227 bhp max. power. This power source in conjunction with 6-speed manual transmission will help new Audi TT go 0 – 100 kmph in 6 seconds flat. But with 6-speed S-tronic transmission and Quattro all wheel drive, the TT will do 0 to 100 in just 5.3 seconds. If that isn’t enough, Audi TTS will take you from 0 to 100 kmph in just 4.7 seconds. The 2.0 litre TDI diesel mill too packs some punch with 184 bhp top power. But this time, diesel version will get front wheel drive option as well, as opposed to current limitation of Quattro offering alone.
Expected launch by end of 2014, price of Audi TT should start at around Rs. 55 lakhs.
