Avan E Street, Big Bore off road electric motorcycles – Delhi EV Expo

Even though there are multiple players entering in the electric 2 wheeler category, none of them except Ather can be credited for a proper product differentiation. However, Pune based Avan Motors is working upon something interesting. They are coming up with India’s first Off-roading electric motorcycle (2-wheeler).

We recently got a chance to interact with Avan Motors at the EV Expo in Delhi and got to understand more about their plans about their Electric off-roading vehicles. At the moment, there are two products which Avan Motors is working upon.

The first vehicle which Avan Motors is developing is currently known as the Big Bore (could be the name of the final product as well). It comes packed with a 3-phase motor which delivers 17.5 hp and 80 Nm of peak torque. The bike can reach a top-speed of 113 km/h and comfortably manage a top-speed of 100 km/h.

The Big Bore draws power from a 5.5 kWh Lithium-ion battery pack. You will be able to charge it to 80% of the battery capacity in 3 hours while a full charge from 0% will take around 4.5 hours.

The other off-roading 2 wheeler which Avan is working upon is the E-Street. Its motor dishes out 9.3 hp and 80 Nm of peak torque. It can achieve a maximum speed of 90 km/h while sustain 80 km/h comfortably.

Its 4.5 kWh battery pack takes 3 hours for a full charge and 2 hours for charging up to 80%. Avan Motors haven’t revealed the range of both the off-roaders at the moment. We expect more details to be available once the launch date draws closer.

Talking about the products and their possible use in the future, Mr. Mayank Deo, Business Lead at Avan Motors, stated that they see a huge potential of these products in sectors like patrolling/adventure camps/theme parks etc. apart from the expected demand from off-roading lovers.

The products are currently in the R&D stage and there is no tentative date available for the launch. Do you think you would like to buy one of these in the near future?
