Ashok Leyland Limited will be launching its Avia truck for Indian markets by end of July 2013. These vehicles will be manufactured by the brand in Uttarakhand. The Avia Truck Business Unit was acquired by Ashok Leyland and is now known as Avia Ashok Leyland motors.
The move allowed for Ashok Leyland to expand its global sales and thereby improve its product portfolio. Its range of Avia trucks are between 6.5 to 12 tons respectively. Though Ashok Leyland’s sales dipped by 25% in January 2013, it aims to do better in the second half of this year, though nothing can be implied at the moment. To help cater to rising export orders, the company has returned to its six day a week routine which was given the back seat due to a slump in CV sales and demand.
The brand will aim to increase sales of its heavy commercial vehicles as it introduces new models for the Indian market. These new vehicles will be incorporated in the tippers and tractor segment and will benefit from a brand new cab.
