The Bajaj Avenger sales performance has exceeded the company’s initial expectations by a significant margin. Launched in October 2015, the updated cruiser family entered the list of top 10 best selling two wheelers in India for the month of December 2015 by clocking 20,182 units.
It’s to be noted that Bajaj Auto initially expected to sell around 9,000 units of the motorcycle per month after the update. The December 2015 sales performance is nearly 7 times the volume achieved by the cruiser in December 2014 (2,908 units).
The update witnessed launch of three variants – Street 150, Street 220 and Cruise 220 – catering to a wider audience base. In December 2015, the Street 150 managed to clock 9,234 units while the Cruise 220 and Street 220 together accounted for 10,948 units.
The strong demand for the new Avenger family is expected to continue in the coming months as well. The revised aesthetics, improved ergonomics and the introduction of the 150 cc variant have gone a long way in injecting a new lease of life to the most affordable cruiser nameplate in India.
