The flagship 150cc range of motorcycles launched under the Discover brand – Discover 150F and the Discover 150S have not performed as per expectations as far as sales are concerned. Launched with much fanfare, Bajaj had hoped that the new Discover 150 range will be a huge hit in the two wheeler industry.
A little more than two years down the line, the sales reports does not reflect on Bajaj’s aims. In October 2015, sales of the Discover 150 range stood at 1,272 units. This had led to many reports claiming that Bajaj might discontinue the Discover brand. But that was not the case. The Discover 150 continued to be on sale.
Now, in October 2016, sales of the Discover 150 range have come down to 0 units. This could mean that the bike is out of production, or is discontinued from the market. But, it still continues to be listed on the website. Query to Bajaj on the same went unanswered.
Bajaj Discover 150 range was powered by a 144.8 cc Single cyl, 4-valve, DTS-i with ExhausTEC engine that generates 14.5 ps @ 8500 RPM and 1.3 Kg-m @ 6500 (12.75 N-m). It was mated to a five speed gearbox, and had a claimed top speed of 110 Kmph. Some of the highlights include petal discs in the front, monoshock rear suspension, tubeless tyres, and digital instrument console. Available in five colour options, Dicover 150 range was priced from INR 54,000 to INR 58,000, ex-showroom, New Delhi.
With their most powerful Discover sales hitting rock bottom, Bajaj is getting ready to launch their most powerful motorcycle ever – the Dominar 400. This will be launched on 15th Dec 2016. Bajaj aims to sell 10,000 units of Dominar each month.
