Bajaj Dominar 400 FF Fully Faired variant will be very expensive
With the new Bajaj Dominar 400 a success, rumors have started doing rounds claiming that Bajaj has already started working on a fully faired version of Dominar 400. But how true is that?
Rajiv Bajaj sent shockwaves in the two wheeler industry when he launched the Dominar 400 at a starting price of INR 1.36 lakh, es-showroom. Never before was a bike from 400 cc segment this affordable.
Rajiv Bajaj was clear with the strategy of Dominar 400. It is a bike which is being sold in the INR 1-2 lakh segment. This segment sees 80% sales of Royal Enfield bikes, remaining is by other players. Bajaj aims to eat into RE’s share, and acquire a solid 20% stake in this segment. With this kind of pricing, they might be on their way of acquiring way more than that.

Launched only as a sports tourer as of now, Bajaj has confirmed that the same platform could spawn across different segments in the future. But does that also include a fully faired variant which could probably look like the ones in images below?
Well, the answer is no. Yes. Bajaj has gone on record and stated that a Dominar 400 FF – Fully Faired variant will not be possible. In an interview with AutocarPro, Bajaj reveals that it will be a very expensive proposition, not only for buyers but also for their consumers if a fully faired variant of Dominar 400 was to be launched.
The factors which will push the price of Dominar 400FF are new body parts, new fairing, new headlight, clip-on handle bars, new foot pegs, new seating, etc. More or less, the same changes we have seen from NS 200 to RS 200. In a way, Bajaj has learnt from their experience – compared to the NS 200 the more expensive RS 200 is not a success, because of its price tag. The same would be true if Bajaj were to launch a fully faired Dominar 400.
Like the existing Bajaj Dominar 400, the fully faired variant will also be offered in two variants – ABS and non-ABS. The bike is seen with a stylish new design, aggressive front-end and sharp headlamp design. Bajaj Dominar 400F sports a twin instrument console setup, like the one we have seen on Ducati Diavel. It has one display mounted on the headlamp console and the other on the fuel tank.
Dominar 400F is powered by the same engine as seen on KTM Duke 390 and RC390. This engine is a 373cc, 4-valve, single cylinder, liquid cooled offering 35 bhp power and 35 Nm torque mated to a 6-speed transmission. Top speed stands at 165+ kmph.
Speaking about the Dominar 400 which is currently on sale, the bike is off to a flying start as far as sales are concerned. Sadly, the bike is not available in all Indian cities. It is only on sale in 22 Indian cities. Below are the cities in which the Dominar is on sale, along with the price tag in that city.
